Ways to Get the Abused to Talk and Accept it
- Try to ask them about the scars, bruise, or broken limbs that seem unusual.
- Consult with someone the child looks up to.
- Avoid going to the parents. Talking to the parents will just cause more trouble for the child.
- Have someone the child can open up to and trust.
- Don't force the conversation onto the child.
- Once the child feels trap and uncomfortable they will close you out entirely.
- Don't interrupt once they start opening up to you wait till the end.
- Rather than interrupting and giving the child the opportunity to push away from the conversation.
